We believe in the growth of the translation industry

2018 has been an intense year for Rosario Traducciones y Servicios SA. Throughout the past year—our eighteenth anniversary—through different actions and activities, we worked to strengthen links with different industry stakeholders: we participated in international events, released the second edition of our annual survey about the translation industry, re-launched our website and formed partnerships with export organizations and chambers of commerce.

Presence at international events
As president of Translated in Argentina, our director María Gabriela Morales, participated in the translation industry's most representative meetings.
From March 13 to 16, she attended the tenth edition of the annual GALA meeting (Globalization and Localization Association), which took place in Boston, Massachusetts.

In June, she participated in the 9th International Conference of Abrates within the framework of GALA's localization forum, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On that occasion she shared the experience of Translated in Argentina with the paper Strategic #Coopetition: The Value of Relationships for Small Companies.
In September, she represented the association at the ATC Summit, the annual conference of the Association of Translation Companies, held in Cardiff, England, on the panel "Working together - Industry Associations". She was also a speaker at Networking Days, which took place in Vienna, Austria, the largest event of the European Language Industry Association (Elia).

In November, in partnership with TinA, we organized the second GALA Networking Event in Buenos Aires, with a great turnout despite adverse weather conditions.

Also in November, we participated in the Business Round of the Expo Pyme Rosario held at City Center Rosario, where we had the opportunity to interact with SMEs from around the region. In addition, we were present at the BNI Rosario Business Round event that took place at the Rosario Stock Exchange, where we generated new contact networks and business opportunities.

We closed the year as sponsors of the first Networking Meeting in Rosario of Women in Localization, an international association celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

We strengthened ties with the export sector

We kicked off 2018 as new partners of two institutions linked to the export sector. The first of these is the Chamber of Foreign Trade of Rosario and the other, the Argentine Agency for Investment and International Trade (AAICI).

These new alliances reflect the goals set by the company in recent years and are tied with efforts to strengthen our relationships with the different industry players. In this regard, the link between the translation and language services industry and the export sector is clear.

Within this framework, we launched a newsletter aimed at companies and organizations in the sector, highlighting critical factors for communicating with customers from abroad.

We provide data of interest for the industry
Rosario Traducciones y Servicios SA conducted its survey of Argentina's translation industry for the second consecutive year. The survey  aims  to identify key characteristics of the sector and to detect other useful aspects for decision making.
We surveyed translators, editors and project managers—relevant industry stakeholders—to ensure a significant number of representative responses from the sector.

Among other topics, the 2018 edition of the survey addressed issues such as: demography, trajectory in the industry, work tools, training interests, perspectives and employment relationships. The survey was conducted in April 2018.
The results of the survey were outlined in the article Characteristics of the translation industry in Argentina.

More announcements
In March, we renewed our website, not only to strengthen our relationship with our customers but also to improve the dissemination of news and content of interest among the different industry stakeholders: specific information about our services, news about the Spanish language, interviews with opinion leaders, data of interest for translation professionals and communication tips for exporters make up some of the content that can be found on our website as well as on our social media channels.

Interpretation, a growing service
Through important projects, which were developed in several stages and took place in Rosario, Buenos Aires and Bolivia , the growth of our interpretation service was remarkable. This expansion was spearhead by a group of professionals specialized in simultaneous, consecutive interpretation, whispering and telephone conversations.
We want to thank the clients who trust our professionalism and entrust us with this important task.

Passion for language
With another year of exciting activities and important actions behind us, we will take a break to celebrate another year of shared work and gear up for new possibilities and future ties. We hope to continue working together in the new year, sharing our passion for languages throughout 2019.
